Exposing the Real Larry Hines

Larry Hines (of Re/Max Horizon) is one of the most toxic individuals I’ve had the displeasure to know. I don’t relish airing dirty laundry and would much rather do other things with my time but his actions have shaped my response and he’s getting what is long overdue in light being brought to his shitty antics.

THE FLOOD

For about 3 months in 2022 he let raw sewage back up into the house we rented. When I told him of the issue he said he’d take a look but never showed up. This mirrored the experience I had with him where he said he’d install some ceiling tiles when we first moved in but 5 years later the tiles still hadn’t been installed. In fact he was pretty much derelict and absentee the entirety of our tenancy at 1468 N. Alto Vista. I told him of plumbing issues and he responded that I needed to send a text message because he manages things via text. This was AFTER I had told him I’d not be taking his text messages on the phone number I’d authorized for his use to contact me about the property. He pitched a fit and threatened to have us evicted for “not participating in the lease” as agreed instead of engaging in constructive dialogue about how he could be less shitty and actually do his fucking job.

I took this video below a few weeks before vacating the premises just to document a couple of the things that have resulted from his shitty attitude and piss-poor work ethic.

When I noticed the issue I contacted Larry. He said he’d take a look but he never showed up or followed up.

This was happening every night and reached my office so I needed to stop working during my most productive hours (Yay ADHD!!!) or else I’d be stuck sitting on my drafting stool for hours because the sewage came up that high.

Don’t you think that if you were a property manager and you had put a tenant through 3 months of sewage backing up into their office of all places, where they need to operate to make money to pay bills, you’d at least make an apology? Maybe you’d take ownership of the fuck up and try to make it right? Not Larry. He became more of a dick, more implacable, more toxic, displayed more bully-like behavior to the point I told him not to text me and I’d only be on phone calls with him if they were recorded. Like most bullies and otherwise shitty people he didn’t want a record of his bullshit but he wanted to be able to harass me. After I came back from a trip taking care of a dear friend who almost died form cancer treatment he harassed me by messaging me on a phone number that I’d never authorized him to use.

What Else?

I’ll slowly be adding more and more evidence and examples of how shitty he is both as a person and as a professional. Fortunately I have other things going on in life besides this site and dealing with his bullshit so it may take me some time to sift through text messages, videos, voicemail, etc to update here but rest assured there is more.

You need to have strong verifiable evidence of your claims. I don’t have time to walk down every rabbit hole so if something doesn’t add up, I’m sparing myself the effort of looking further. When I watched my neighbor doing work for Larry in what looked very much like Larry exploiting an undocumented individual for manual labor, I was sickened. Unfortunately the aforementioned neighbor wasn’t wiling to stand up to Larry and I don’t blame him he has less social and financial security than do I. T-Shirts and Merch

Thanks to the person (people actually) who suggested I do T-Shirts and Merchandise. I figured I’d address the issue here once instead of needing to response separately every time it comes up.

I am not opposed to the idea of having merchandise for this site or about Larry. I don’t have time do do the design work and everything else that goes into doing it and I doubt there’s a market large enough to make it worthwhile. If someone else wants to do the work, I’m more than happy to take a look at it but there’s no guarantee I’ll adopt it.
